Obama Invesco Speech: How to shoot self in foot
Fri Aug 08, 2008 at 08:47:10 AM PDT
Count me among the many that have been excited ever since I heard about the concept of Obama delivering his acceptance speech at Invesco Stadium... open to the public... rather than at The Can (aka Pepsi Center).
I have a relative that lives in Aurora so I have a place to stay (I live in California)... but still... this is quickly becoming a PITA logistically, and I don't see this playing out well.
Let me explain...
Scalito Haiku and... Progress for America?
Mon Jan 09, 2006 at 10:10:29 PM PDT
I have a soft spot for haiku... especially the political kind. So it was nice to find a review of today's proceeding's reduced to a short
haiku format.
Judge Sam Alito
Lawyers seek outcomes
But a judge can't think that way
Now, facts drive results
Judge Sam Alito
Wife is a lawyer
Mother went to college, a first;
I'm a feminist
But whilst I'm enjoying the haiku... I notice that the top placed blogad on this blog is from that DFA wannabe PFA... "Progress for America". Hmmm... what's that all about?
Pentagon to investigate Feith?
Thu Nov 17, 2005 at 10:02:59 PM PDT
Not sure if this is Pat Roberts attempt to punt the ball further downfield, but ...
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The Pentagon's inspector general has agreed to review the prewar intelligence activities of former U.S. defense undersecretary Douglas Feith, a main architect of the Iraq war, congressional officials said on Thursday.
News of the Defense Department probe comes at a time of bitter political debate over whether President George W. Bush misled the American people with prewar intelligence. The increasingly biter dispute has pitted the president and his top advisers against lawmakers including some from Bush's own Republican Party.
Democrats have accused Feith of manipulating information from sources including discredited Iraqi politician Ahmad Chalabi to suggest links between Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network, which masterminded the September 11, 2001, attacks.
Hmmm... let's see... didn't somebody agree to get off their tails and make progress on a certain investigation lately? Who might that have been?
The Jet Blue Death Watch on AAR
Thu Sep 22, 2005 at 08:04:32 AM PDT
Did anyone notice how the impending possibility of a tradegy laid out in high definition TV kinda took over the media wednesday afternoon? It even infected Air America Radio (AAR).
Did it make anyone else feel sick to their stomach?
Morbid is the only word I can currently come up with. A DESIRE to witness death and destruction.
Attack on Fitzgerald?
Thu Jul 07, 2005 at 07:53:09 AM PDT
There's an
AP article that got my attention as a possible right-wing attempt to harass Fitzgerald in the Plame investigation.
The Senate Judiciary Committee could be the next stop for the those involved in the federal probe into who exposed undercover CIA officer Valerie Plame as it weighs
a bill that would protect reporters who refuse to identify their sources.
Those called to testify could include the media outlets and the prosecutor in the case, in which New York Times reporter Judith Miller was jailed Wednesday. Plame's identity was first revealed publicly in a column by Robert Novak.
WTF? In the middle of an on-going investigation? Is this an attempt to provide a forum to slime Fitzgerald? Or is this an opportunity to dance with a box turtle... or both?
I'll explain below...
Moral Values Manifesto
Mon Dec 20, 2004 at 06:20:39 PM PDT
Some Americans are obsessed with having a leader that shares the same moral values as them. My mom even timidly alluded to "moral values" as the rationale behind the election, before I told her not to go there.
I'm holding out hope some day to eventually get my mom clued in, as she's been a captive Republican all her life. At least she's willing to listen to an argument and can therefore be persuaded. OTOH, my 4 fundagelical siblings and I have moved to a war footing. My decision, not theirs. What we have here, is a failure to communicate.
So in the interest of communication (with a side dish of harassment), I decided what I need is a manifesto. A declaration of Moral Values so that I can share it with them and they can point out specific differences. It's in the extended box, and I could use a hand.
The Corporate Olympics
Tue Aug 10, 2004 at 03:01:33 PM PDT
There are days when I get creeped out when I read certain things... like when I read about somebody having to sign a loyalty oath to attend a political rally. Today's creepiness is on display in
this article about corporate authoritarianism in Athens for the Olympics.
Known as the "clean venue policy," the rules were drawn up by the Greeks and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to shield sponsors from so-called "ambush marketing" - an attempt to advertise items during the games without paying sponsorship fees.
Yes indeed, not only will there be a cast of thousands keeping the terrorists at bay, but the corporate logo police will be out in force. What might they do? Read on.
Mike Malloy comes to AAR?
Mon Aug 02, 2004 at 05:11:05 PM PDT
Before there was Air America Radio... there was
Mike Malloy... if you were looking for liberal voices on the radio. Caustic, but in a good way.... think Randi Rhodes.
Then a few months ago, before AAR opened up shop I think... the plug was pulled on his gig at ie. America Radio. Maybe he needed a break, maybe other forces were at work. Whatever.
Now... it looks like he's back, and coming to AAR ... alledgedly today. However... while this page says August 2, I see no other reference to Mike at the main AAR page. Anybody know what's going on... where his time slot will be?

Traitor Bob sez Dems can take congress in 2006
Fri Mar 05, 2004 at 02:51:20 AM PDT
America's favorite traitor, Bob Novak, had some interesting wisdom to share today in the Houston Chronicle. He obviously feels the right wing political machine is not exactly firing on all cylinders, describing
the deepening malaise among Republicans in the capital.
It's an interesting read, but the part that most caught my attention is when Bob uttered the following...
If Bush is re-elected, Democrats are likely to win both the House and Senate in a 2006 midterm rebound.
Hmmm... what does this tell us about right wing mentality?
What it tells me is that these guys KNOW they can't keep this charade up for two whole more years before the public figures out they've been duped and comes looking for heads to roll. And then the question becomes... George in 04... or me in 06.
You can only tell so many lies before the house of cards comes falling down. Like death and taxes... it is inevitable.
