First Edwards Pledged Delegate Switches to Obama
Wed May 14, 2008 at 09:07:34 PM PDT
We all know Obama will eventually get a majority of Edwards' delegates but there's no rule saying the pledged delegate has to vote for Obama.
Tonight just a few short hours after the endorsement we've all been waiting for Obama picked up one of those delegates.
A New Hampshire Democratic Party delegate who had supported John Edwards says he will support Barack Obama, now that Edwards has endorsed his former political rival for the party's presidential nominee.

Rep. Tom Allen (ME) endorses Obama - Super #1 for Today
Mon May 12, 2008 at 07:40:11 AM PDT
Superdelegate #1 for Obama today. How many more will we see before the end of the day? If today is anything like Friday we'll see quite a few more.
Democratic Rep. Tom Allen announced this morning that he is supporting Barack Obama for president.
"I have been friends for a very long time with former President Clinton and Sen. Clinton. I respect their service to our nation," Allen said in a written statement. He added that "most of the primary voters across the nation have now spoken. It is time to bring a graceful end to the primary campaign. We now need to unify the Democratic party and focus on electing Sen. Obama and a working majority in the United States Senate."
Barack Obama won both Maine and Tom Allen's district by wide a margin.
Allen's endorsement brings Obama's superdelegate vote total to 276. He leads Hillary Clinton by 5.5 superdelegate votes after taking the lead on Saturday.

Mr. Super.... Revealed!
Thu May 08, 2008 at 12:08:58 PM PDT
Cross-posted from 2008 Democratic Convention Watch
One of the greatest mysteries of this primary season isn't who will win the nomination but rather who is Mr. Super? Today we finally found out!
MrSuper.org is a website which was created in March to debunk myths, offer insight and answer questions about the 2008 Democratic nomination process for President. The author, who has been posting under the pseudonym "Mr. Super" will announce his identity today.
The site was created by Edward Espinoza, an undeclared Superdelegate and elected DNC Member from California and a former Field Director to 2008 Presidential Candidate Bill Richardson.
Obama will get at least 5 superdelegates today
Mon May 05, 2008 at 09:56:15 AM PDT
At 2008 Democratic Convention Watch we don't count superdelegate endorsements until they're official. Today Illinois will officially announce their 3 add-on Superdelegates. Everybody knew about these endorsements... but I have a new treat for you.
The chairman and vice-chairman of the Maryland Democratic Party are throwing their support behind Sen. Barack Obama on the eve of Tuesday's primaries in Indiana and North Carolina, giving the Illinois senator at least two additional superdelegates.
Maryland Democratic officials said this morning that a few more of the state's uncommitted superdelegates -- including state Del. Heather R. Mizeur of Montgomery County -- could also announce their decisions today. - Baltimore Sun
UPDATE: KY & IA Superdelegates Endorseme Obama
Tue Apr 29, 2008 at 06:35:25 AM PDT
UPDATE: Obama just picked up super #2 of the day
Winthrop farmer Richard Machacek, an Iowa superdelegate, said today he is pledging to support Illinois Sen. Barack Obama.
Machacek, a member of the Democratic National Committee, had been uncommitted. He said he saw little difference between Obama and New York Sen. Hillary Clinton on policy positions or ability.

While Clinton may have just gotten the endorsement of NC Governor Mike Easley, Barack Obama quickly canceled it out with the endorsement of Kentucky Representative Ben Chandler.

Fri Apr 25, 2008 at 02:08:41 PM PDT
You've all seen or heard about the ad Republicans are planning on running in NC. The one that the media is happily repeating ad nauseum for free. The one that NC TV stations are refusing to air. The ad's main purpose is to make the Democratic candidates for Governor look bad.
So how do you think the Clinton campaign feels about this?
"Even though they (Perdue and Moore) are supporting Senator Obama they are good Democrats, and this ad is wrong," Carson says, in a statement sent to ABC News' Eloise Harper. "It's exactly the kind of ad Republicans run every cycle to distract us from their failures and the real issues that face our country." - ABC
So take heart fellow Kossaks! Even though you support Obama the Clinton Campaign thinks you can still be a good Democrat.
Even though there are 234 superdelegates supporting Obama, they just may still have a chance of being considered "good Democrats" by the Clintons.
Superdelegate #1 for Obama today... how many more?

Superdelegate Wu Backs Obama In Oregon
Oregon Rep. David Wu, one of Oregon's 12 Democratic superdelegates, announced Thursday that he'd back Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, citing Obama's stand against the Iraq war "from the very beginning."
Wu joins Oregon Rep. Earl Blumenauer in backing Obama. Gov. Ted Kulongoski and Rep. Darlene Hooley are supporting New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. The rest of Oregon's superdelegates have not yet announced their choice.
"We need new policies both at home and abroad," Wu said in a statement. "Like Americans, the international community wants to see real change in America and I believe that Senator Obama embodies that change."
The endorsement is an important win for Obama in one of the few states still to vote. Oregon's primary ballots are counted on May 20. Fox 12
Nebraska Superdelegate Endorses Obama
Wed Apr 23, 2008 at 02:24:06 PM PDT
This is Obama's second endorsement of the day.
From BarackObama.com
Audra Ostergard, Associate Chair of the Nebraska Democratic Party and member of the Democratic National Committee, publicly announced her support for Senator Barack Obama in the race for the Democratic Presidential nomination.
"I have carefully weighed input from Democrats across Nebraska and closely watched results from primaries and caucuses across the country," said Ostergard. "There are compelling arguments for supporting both candidates, but my decision came down to what’s best for our country and for Nebraska. In that regard, I am confident in my decision to endorse Senator Obama. He has a proven ability to activate Democrats in Nebraska."
"The gravity of this decision has weighed on me heavily," Ostergard added. "I don’t want to use my position to influence the process, but at the same time I agree with Howard Dean that our party needs a nominee. Senator Obama’s prohibitive lead in pledged delegates was a major factor in my decision."
Clinton staffer calls Obama a Copycat
Mon Apr 21, 2008 at 09:05:50 AM PDT
As if whining about Obama's kindergarten paper on being the President wasn't enough the Clinton campaign is now calling Obama a copycat.
Hillary Clinton was clearly having a blast during her drop-in appearance with Stephen Colbert here last Thursday, but her campaign's mood soured when aides learned Barack Obama would be appearing on the same show via satellite.
"I can't believe it -- he's such a copycat," fumed a person close to Clinton, telling Newsday that the candidate herself said was surprised by Obama's Colbert Nation invasion.
Obama spokesman Bill Burton says his boss was simply taking the show up on its repeated requests that he appear - and that the producers had suggested the Thursday time slot. (Colbert's spokeswoman didn't return calls for comment.) "I'm not surprised the Clinton campaign attacking us for going on the Colbert Report -- since their campaign is 100% negative," Burton said. "But I do have to say this is about the lamest attack they've come up with so far." - The Swamp
Clinton bashes MoveOn and pisses off Jane Hamsher in the process
Fri Apr 18, 2008 at 02:49:18 PM PDT
Longtime Hillary supporter Jane Hamsher from FireDogLake may not be a Hillary supporter after today.
The Huffington Post headline reads "Hillary Slams Democratic Activists." I'm being told that Hillary Clinton was caught on tape disparaging Barack Obama because he's being supported by MoveOn, and that they opposed military action in Afghanistan.
I've tried to stay out of the pie fights of late, but as a long-term defender of MoveOn and other progressive organizations -- this is completely unacceptable.
I defended Hillary Clinton when she refused to bow to right wing pressure and condemn MoveOn over the "General Betrayus" ad (and was sad when she finally capitulated). MoveOn are valuable progressive partners, who have been with us on Donna Edwards, net neutrality, trying to bring an end to the war, FISA and other issues we've been fighting for. - Jane Hamsher

Wed Apr 16, 2008 at 09:09:30 AM PDT
From the Raleigh N&O
Campaign manager David Plouffe will hold a conference call with reporters this afternoon to announce two new endorsements.
...
That leaves 14 more superdelegates. Two are add-ons who will be named at the state convention. One is party chairman Jerry Meek, who has said he will remain neutral.
That leaves Gov. Mike Easley; Reps. Heath Shuler, Mike McIntyre, Brad Miller, Bob Etheridge, David Price and Mel Watt; Buncombe County Commissioner Carol Peterson; Statesville attorney David Parker; Employment Security Commission employee Muriel K. Offerman and Cumberland County Commissioner Jeanette Council.
Along with Rep. Andre Carson's endorsement today, the new endorsements from NC will put Obama only 23 superdelegates behind Clinton.
Update: The superdelegates have been announced as Mel Watt and David Price
Clinton Loses Support of Add-on DC Superdelegate
Tue Apr 08, 2008 at 08:15:20 AM PDT
The big media is just starting to pick up on the fact that add-on superdelegates may be a big factor in who gets the nomination.
At 2008 Democratic Convention Watch we've been following add-ons since before the first one was named.
Today recently named add-on superdelegate Harry Thomas Jr. of DC pulled his support from Clinton and is now uncommitted.
Ward 5 D.C. Councilman Harry Thomas Jr. was elected last week by the D.C. Democratic State Committee as a delegate to the national convention. Thomas, who had previously endorsed Clinton, was listed as a Clinton backer on a delegate spreadsheet circulated Monday by the committee.
But by the end of the day, the party had retracted that announcement, and Thomas was switched to simply "unpledged."
"He wants to confer with the party," said Vicky Leonard-Chambers, Thomas’ spokeswoman.

Another poll just in showing Obama closing on Clinton in PA
Thu Apr 03, 2008 at 12:51:50 PM PDT
Insider Advantage just released a poll which has Clinton leading Obama 45-43. You can see the polling results here.

There's no MoE shown but I'd bet it puts them at or near a tie.
The poll shows Obama up 70% - 26.5% with 18-29 voters
Real Clear Politics has averaged all of the recent PA polls for the following results

The question we may need to start asking ourselves is when will Clinton start downplaying Pennsylvania and if anybody is dumb enough to believe her.
Update: Numbers are included. Obama gets 2 more delegates from IL last month
Wed Apr 02, 2008 at 08:10:07 AM PDT
Sorry everybody. I just talked to somebody at the State Board of Elections and we went over the results for every district and they're totaling 104-49.
The change was made soon after Super Tuesday but wasn't reported until last month.
Clinton owes MN Charity $580 - Let's help them out
Mon Mar 31, 2008 at 11:36:15 AM PDT
Hillary Clinton's campaign managed to owe $8,733,603 for services that were used during the campaign.
As Ben Smith notes on Politico one of the groups still owed money by Clinton is a Minnesota charity called Neighborhood House. The Clinton campaign owes them $580 for venue use and catering.
From the sounds of Clinton's money problems Neighborhood House probably won't be seeing their money any time soon. I think we should help them out by donating over and above what the Clinton campaign owes them. We're not paying the bill for the campaign... we're helping out a charity until the bill can be paid.
One of the most outrageous thing about this is that the venue that Clinton used is called the Paul and Sheila Wellstone Center
