The GOP has released a list of items they feel are "wasteful" in the current economic stimulus plan that is in the Senate. I will post their list in its entirety, and you all can feel free to shoot down or discuss each item.
The total of all these items equals roughly $19 billion (I may be a little off because I did this quickly). That's roughly 2.5% of the entire stimulus package. It is clear that they are trying to play small ball and nit pick the minor items in an effort to create a public uproar regarding the ENTIRE package. Because really all we need is more tax cuts (snark).
Among some of the items listed, I find it most humorous that they feel summer jobs for students, greening public buildings, providing money for fire services, and preventing lead paint in toys are wasteful. What would it take for them for something to be considered wise spending? I've bolded the "wasteful" items I find most laughable as well. Laughable in that how on earth could these be wasteful? It's like they forget we are trying to create jobs or something.
